ETAF calls for an EU Code of Conduct for tax intermediaries

By aziz rahman

Answering and EU Commission’s consultation on tax planning, the European Tax Advisor Federation (ETAF) has called for an EU Code of Conduct for tax intermediaries in an effort to tackle tax evasion and tax avoidance.

Responding to the DG TAXUD consultation on “Disincentives for advisers and intermediaries for potentially aggressive tax planning schemes”, ETAF said that its members believed that a code of conduct at EU level is the best way to ensure conscientious tax and legal advice services and also to restrict potentially aggressive tax planning scheme.

The consultation closes on 16 March and all responses will be made public after that date.

ETAF is a pan-European tax body made of the professional bodies of France, Italy and Germany which was created to push for harmonisation of tax rules in the EU. ETAF says it represents 230,000 tax professionals.
