Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe (ICAZ) have signed a reciprocal membership agreement (RMA) which came into effect 1 April 2019.
The RMA specifies the criteria by which members of one body are eligible for membership in the other. It was signed by CPA Canada on behalf of the CPA provincial and territorial bodies and the Chartered Professional Accountants of Bermuda, which has a long affiliation with the Canadian CPA profession.
CPA Canada president and CEO Joy Thomas said: “Canada’s accounting profession is committed to increasing international labour mobility through comprehensive international credential recognition agreements.
“We’re excited to offer a pathway to achieving the Canadian CPA designation for Zimbabwe CAs while also creating an entryway for Canadian CPAs. These agreements, which help facilitate career opportunities and economic growth, are a great example of how professional bodies can span borders and work in harmony.”
In November, CPA Canada signed RMAs with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
