As reported by The Accountant yesterday, the Belgian Institute of Registered Auditors (Institut des Réviseurs d’Entreprises, IRE) has appointed Thierry Dupont president, effective today for a three-year term.
Dupont, a partner at RSM Belgium, has served as vice-president of IRE. He succeeds Daniel Kroes, a partner at Deloitte Belgium, now a Council member.
The new vice-president is Tom Meuleman, an audit partner at PwC. The other elected members of the IRE Council are:
Lieven Acke (Mazars); Daniel Kroes (Deloitte); Wim Rutsaert (Moore Stephens); Dirk Smets (BST, Réviseurs d’Entreprises); Patrick Van Impe (HLB); and Luc Verrijssen (KPMG) among the Dutch-speaking section.
The French-speaking Council members are: Patricia Leleu (KPMG); Vincent Etienne (EY); Hugues Fronville (BDO); Fernand Maillard (RM2 Audit Support); Eric Mathay (Buelens, Mathay & Associates) and Raynald Vermoesen (Vermoesen plc).
ICAS president
Ken McHattie has been appointed president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS), effective today at the professional body’s AGM.
McHattie chairs the board of Aurora Petroleum and success Jim Pettigrew.
He said ICAS’ initiative in the field of ethics, called The Power of One, will be one the key areas of his presidency.
ICAS also announced that its membership in Scotland exceed 10,000. Some 10,000 members more are across the rest of the UK and overseas.
"Our mission is to build the leading global professional community and I look forward to working tirelessly over the next 12 months on behalf of our 21,000 members to lead the next stage of delivering our ambitious plans," McHattie said.
