The Canadian Institute of Chartered
Accountants (CICA) has appointed Shelley Brown as chairman, and Len
Boggio as vice chair, to its board of directors.

Brown has been a member of CICA’s board for
eight year and is currently a partner at Deloitte’s Vancouver
office having previously held the position of Office Managing
Partner at their Saskatchewan branch.

Boggio recently retired from public practice
following a 30-year career with PwC where he worked in the mining,
energy and financial services sectors. He is also the former
president of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of British
Columbia (ICABC) and was elected fellow to the same organisation in
2007.

These appointments come at a time when
unification efforts are taking place within Canada’s accounting
profession as the three accounting bodies look to merge. Both
Browne and Boggio recognise the importance of their new roles at
this time of change.

“It is an honour to represent the CA
profession at such an exciting and pivotal time,” Brown said.

Boggio added as the accounting landscape is
changing in Canada with the unification initiative “I look forward
to working hard to meet our commitment to protecting the public
interest as the accounting profession evolves.”
