Ahead of the launch of its certification in the valuation of financial instruments (CVFI), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) has called for comments on a proposed disclosure framework for the valuation of financial instruments.

The proposed framework aims to provide guidance on the level of documentation and substantiation required when performing, reviewing or working with securities or financial instruments. However, the framework does not provide instructions on how to arrive at a valuation conclusion, the AICPA said in a statement.

CVFI credential holders will be required to comply with the framework.

The draft proposals are out for comments until 27 September 2017.
