The Association of Chartered Certified
Accountants (ACCA) and Deloitte Ghana have signed a partnership to
promote the use of IFRS among Ghana’s financial professionals.

As part of the initiative ACCA and Deloitte
have designed a Diploma in International Financial Reporting
(DipIFR) and will offer accountants master classes to prepare the
exams leading to the award.

“It is vital that finance professionals in
Ghana are able to master IFRS since it now required or permitted in
all major economies,” ACCA head of Ghana Norman Williams said.

According to ACCA, more than 12 countries in
sub-Saharan Africa have already adopted IFRS as their local
GAAP.

The master classes will start on 15August in
preparation for exams in December 2012 and June 2013.
