The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales’ (ICAEW) Business and Technology paper had the highest pass rate (89.2%) of the ACA Professional Level exams in September 2019.

While this is slightly lower than last September’s pass rate (90.9%), it is an encouraging sign that accountants at the start of their career are achieving strong results on exams which cover technology.

The success of the Business Strategy and Technology paper was followed by the Financial Management (87.2%) and Financial Accounting and Reporting (80.5%), with the second and third highest pass rate respectively.

The influence of technology is changing the accountancy profession at an unprecedented rate and the need for accountants to expand their skill sets to have a better understanding of technology has never been greater.

ICAEW director, education and qualifications, said: “ICAEW students have once again demonstrated their hard work and talent by producing another set of solid results.

“As technology continues to transform most aspects of business, it’s very encouraging to see the Business Strategy and Technology paper achieve the highest pass rate. We ensure technology forms a core part of our syllabus, so it’s great to see our students are equally engaged.
