The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy’s (NASBA’s) Nominating Committee has named Katrina Salazar as chair nominee and J. Andy Bonner as vice-chair nominee for the 2026–27 Board.

The revised nominations follow the resignation of vice-chair Coalter Baker, who has stepped down to “focus on his health”, a statement from the US association said.

After Baker’s departure, the Nominating Committee reconvened to update its previously approved slate of officers, with the aim of maintaining continuity in NASBA’s volunteer leadership.

Salazar had initially been selected as vice-chair nominee and has now been moved into the chair nominee role. She has been involved with NASBA for more than a decade in a variety of leadership positions.

She currently serves as a director-at-large on the NASBA Board and chairs the Legislative Support Committee. Her earlier roles include secretary and Pacific regional director on the board of directors.

Salazar has also led several NASBA committees dealing with legislative, regulatory and professional matters.

Bonner is currently NASBA’s treasurer and chair of the Administration and Finance Committee.

He first joined the NASBA Board of Directors as south-east regional director from 2018 to 2021 and now serves as a director-at-large.

During his tenure, he has chaired several committees and contributed to NASBA’s financial oversight and legislative initiatives.

The updated leadership slate will go before NASBA’s member boards for consideration at the organisation’s annual business meeting in October.

NASBA president and CEO Daniel Dustin said: “Coalter has been a thoughtful and dedicated leader, and we are grateful for his service to NASBA.

“While we are sorry to see him step away from this role, we fully support his decision and wish him the very best. Katrina and Andy have each devoted years of service to NASBA and the accounting profession.

“Their experience, collaborative leadership and commitment to NASBA’s member boards make them exceptionally well prepared for these important roles.”
