
The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) has announced that John Graham has been elected as its 92nd president.
He will also serve as the 10th co-chair of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, the global alliance formed by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and CIMA.
Graham said: “It is an honour to serve as 92nd president of CIMA and 10th co-chair of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, leading a global organisation that fosters trust, enables opportunity, and advances prosperity for people, businesses, communities, and economies worldwide.”
Graham has dedicated much of his career to the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), working across various NHS organisations, including the Department of Health. For the past 16 years, he has served as chief finance officer and director of finance.
He currently holds the position of chief finance officer for Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust and Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.
Additionally, he serves as deputy chief executive at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust.

By GlobalDataNotably, he is the first CIMA president to hold a full-time executive role within the NHS during his term.
During his presidency, Graham will work alongside Association Chair Lexy Kessler and Association CEO Mark Koziel.
Over the next 12 months, Graham plans to engage with members and candidates in Africa, Asia, Europe, and North America, said CIMA in a statement.
His focus will be on highlighting career opportunities in finance, driven by emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and the expanding field of business sustainability, the statement added.
In 1999 Graham became an Associate Chartered Management Accountant (ACMA) and a Fellow Chartered Management Accountant (FCMA) in 2011.
He has been an active advocate for CIMA, taking on various leadership roles to promote management accounting and enhance member engagement.
His previous roles include member and chair of CIMA’s Lifelong Learning and Professional Standards Committees.
He currently serves on the Membership Committee, Exam Board, and Appointments Committee.
Graham also chaired the CIMA Northwest England and North Wales Area Board and continues to serve as a member of the Area Board.
