The IFRS Foundation Trustees have appointed Florian Esterer as a member of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB).
Esterer recently worked at Bank J. Safra Sarasin as Head of Core Equities, leading a team of portfolio managers and analysts who manage the bank’s regional and discretionary equity investment strategies.
Previously he worked at Swisscanto as head of global equities, and MainFirst Asset Management as a senior portfolio manager.
Esterer has an MBA from American University in Washington DC., and he is a CFA charterholder. He served as a board member and was president of CFA Society Switzerland for nine years.
He is also a member of the Capital Markets Advisory Committee which provides the IASB with regular views from the international community of users of financial statements.
He will join the IASB in April 2023 for a five-year term.
IFRS Foundation Trustees chair Erkki Liikanen said: “The IASB has a diverse range of experience and Florian will provide important investor perspective to the IASB’s standard-setting. His appointment now completes the composition of the board.”
Commenting on his appointment, Esterer said: “Having worked in an advisory capacity with the IASB, I am now privileged to be given the opportunity to support the further development of IFRS Accounting Standards, and to present investors’ varied perspectives on the IASB. I am looking forward to working with the staff and my fellow board members to enhance transparency and accountability in financial markets.”
