The Institute of Chartered Accountants in
England and Wales (ICAEW) has grown its Chinese office.

Douglas Lau has been appointed regional
director and Linda Liran Wang joins as strategic development
director.

Lau joins from Ernst & Young where he was
previously an audit partner, first in Hong Kong and then Beijing,
for more than 16 years. Wang is currently a consultant at the
Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a part-time
professor in the department of accounting at Tianjin University of
Finance and Economics.

“Their experience will be essential as we
embark on the next stage of our strategy for China which will see
us open an international regional office there in 2011,” ICAEW
chief executive Michael Izza said. “They will also be critical to
helping us expand our training operation there and supporting our
members who have already qualified as chartered accountants in the
region.”
