The US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has introduced a digitally authenticated Tax Compliance Report.

The report, available through its Individual Online Account, shows the user filed tax returns and taxes paid on time. It offers more information than a traditional tax transcript, with a detailed view of filing and payment history.

According to the IRS, it will use the report for purposes such as job applications, loan requests, government benefits, or other services.

Financial institutions, government bodies and other organisations receiving the document can use its embedded digital certificate to verify that it is genuine. The certificate is also intended to safeguard taxpayer data and preserve the report’s integrity.

IRS CEO Frank J. Bisignano said: “By providing a secure, digitally authenticated report, the IRS is making it easier for taxpayers to access and share important information while protecting privacy and data integrity.”

According to the IRS, every Tax Compliance Report carries an IRS-issued digital certificate confirming its authenticity.

Each report includes the same authentication and verification functions, which are incorporated directly into the downloadable file.

Taxpayers can obtain the report at any time through their individual IRS online account.

Earlier this month, the US Department of the Treasury and the IRS published proposed rules regarding employer contributions to Trump Accounts for staff members or their dependants.

The draft regulations also outlined how non-discrimination rules would apply to dependent care assistance programmes and Trump Account contribution initiatives.
