A study by IT training provider tecnovy has outlined the highest-paying positions within the technology sector in the UK, revealing that chief information officers (CIOs) earn an average base salary of £123,712 ($166,460).
The study utilised salary data from sources including Robert Half, Indeed, and Glassdoor to assess compensation trends across various tech roles.

The analysis also highlighted the lowest-paid positions in the sector, with Network Administrators receiving the least at an average of £32,651.
Test Analysts were noted as the second-lowest earners, with an average salary of £34,794, followed by Applications Support staff at £38,998.
Data Analysts and Business Intelligence Analysts were also among the lower earners, with average salaries of £39,736 and £40,023, respectively.
In contrast, the highest salaries were associated with senior leadership roles.

By GlobalDataFollowing CIOs, chief information security officers (CISOs) ranked second with an average salary of £122,079, reflecting the growing importance of cybersecurity.
Chief architects and chief technology officers (CTOs) earned £116,061 and £104,321, respectively, while IT directors and Programme directors were also prominent, with average salaries of £92,978 and £92,347.
The findings indicate a significant disparity in earnings within the tech sector, particularly between leadership roles and entry-level positions.
Other notable high-paying roles included head of product (£88,687), enterprise architects (£85,483), solution architects (£77,890), and DevOps managers (£77,352), which completed the list of the top ten highest-paid positions.
