The Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA) has partnered with Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI) to bolster commercial and professional communication between China and Singapore.

As part of the collaboration, ISCA and SCCCI will develop a practice-oriented executive programme. The initiative is intended to address practical issues faced by Chinese firms looking to enter or expand within Southeast Asian markets.

The announcement of the partnership coincided with ISCA’s first Annual Ceremony in Shanghai. The event brought together 150 members and partners from China and Singapore.

In China, ISCA has set up offices in Shanghai and Nanjing as part of its regional push.

It has also concluded an agreement with the Nanjing University of Finance and Economics to add the Singapore Chartered Accountant Qualification (SCAQ) into the university’s programme.

Under this arrangement, Chinese students can obtain an accounting degree while gaining an accelerated route towards achieving the chartered accountant (Singapore) title.

This is the first time the SCAQ has been incorporated into a degree course since the qualification was introduced in 2014, Media OutReach Newswire reported.

Singapore Enterprise Centre (SCCCI Shanghai Representative Office) centre director Huang Fei said: “We are pleased to announce this collaboration with ISCA and are eager to impart our combined insights into the world of business development within Chinese enterprises.”

ISCA has been growing its international reach, building a wider base of members, students and institutional partners overseas. The body now operates 12 overseas chapters in nine markets, alongside six overseas offices in four countries.

ISCA president Teo Ser Luck said: “China is a key market in ISCA’s internationalisation strategy, given the size of its enterprises and the growing interest in Southeast Asia as a growth market.

“Through our Professional Services Centres, we provide businesses with the capabilities, insights and networks they need to expand and invest in China and Southeast Asia.

“As we marked ISCA’s first anniversary in China, we stay committed to build strong foundations for cooperation and investment between Singapore and Chinese enterprises, supported by trusted professional services partners.”
