Pailles, Mauritius. Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN) president Anthony Nzom has told the audience of the African Congress of Accountants 2015 (ACOA15) that the time has come for Africa to help itself and as such his institute is launching an initiative to breach the language divide of the continent.
Nzom was speaking in his capacity as quality platinum sponsor of ACOA15 ahead of the first plenary session of the Congress. He said that while help from global institutes from the UK and the US was welcomed, it was time for Africans to help each other to raise the profile of the profession on the continent.

One of the issues faced by Africa, he said, was language differences which makes communication difficult. "To break the language barrier ANAN has launched a scholarship for five French speaking African countries," he announced. "Each of these countries will be able to send to students to Nigeria to qualify as professional accountants, costs of accommodation and studies will be covered by ANAN."
Nzom also announced that the association had hired French speaking staff for its college and was on the path of becoming fully bilingual.
