A former country managing partner of Ernst
& Young Singapore, Low Weng Keong, has been elected as the next
president of CPA Australia.
Low will be the second consecutive CPA
Australia president to be based outside Australia, as incumbent
Richard Petty is based in Hong Kong.

Low is a consultant, company director and sits
on the boards of a number of listed companies.
He is currently deputy president of CPA
Australia and will succeed Petty on 1 October.
Petty said Low is highly regarded by the
board, members, staff and stakeholders of CPA Australia.
“He brings great wisdom and insight to the
pursuit of our goal to be the global professional accountancy
designation for strategic business leaders,” Petty said.

that will take place on 1 October include:
- Penny Egan, the CFO of the
Department of Health and Human Services in the Australian state of
Tasmania, was elected deputy president; - John Cahill, a non-executive
director of Emeco Holdings and Western Power, was re-elected deputy
president; - Richard Petty and Mark Grey
were re-elected as directors; - Jim Dickson and Peter Dowling
were elected as directors to replace Steve Chapman and Paul Cooper
whose terms end on 30 September 2010.
