The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) in the US has named Brant Beard as its new chief information officer (CIO) following the retirement of Cheryl Farrar.
Beard joins the organisation after 21 years at HCA Healthcare, where he worked in enterprise technology leadership positions.

He spent more than 13 years as an assistant vice-president and was involved in work spanning software delivery, infrastructure, governance, supplier oversight and wider change programmes.
In the new role, Beard will be responsible for technology direction and oversight, including IT governance, cybersecurity, data analytics and technology-based services used by NASBA’s member Boards of accountancy, certified public accountants (CPAs), CPA candidates and other parties.
He will also manage major vendor relationships and help ensure that technology spending supports NASBA’s operational and strategic needs.

Beard graduated from Western Kentucky University. He also taught as an adjunct instructor in Vanderbilt University’s Human Organisational Development programme and in Lipscomb University’s Master of Science in Healthcare Informatics programme.
