Efforts will centre on combining resources and facilitating the flow of knowledge between their networks.

PAFA serves as the sole African body known as a regional organisation by the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).

Its activities are aimed at building up accountancy skills across Africa and increasing the region’s presence within the global profession.

PAFA president Walid BEN SALAH commented: “This MOU represents a meaningful step toward empowering accountants in the region with the tools, knowledge and global connections they need to thrive.

“We look forward to working closely with CPA Canada to promote excellence, accessibility and innovation in the profession.”

Under the terms of the MOU, CPA Canada and PAFA will prioritise several areas.

The areas of cooperation outlined in the agreement include increasing the bilingual availability of professional learning materials and resources, exchanging technical materials, organising technical forums, workshops, and events to support learning, and assisting with the adoption of international standards in different regional settings.

CPA Canada CEO and president Pamela Steer said: “CPA Canada is committed to fostering global partnerships that elevate the profession and promote high-quality, inclusive and future-ready initiatives, while supporting regional and bilingual engagement.

“This collaboration empowers professionals with bilingual tools in English and French, as well as world-class resources and the knowledge they need to navigate a rapidly evolving business environment.”

Recently, CPA Canada reported that 4,188 CPA candidates successfully passed the common final examination (CFE) held in September 2025.

Among these candidates, those ranked within the top 1% nationally were acknowledged on an honour roll.
