The discussions centred on how professional bodies can best support the implementation of the UK government’s Industrial Strategy.

The collective aim is to highlight the essential role Chartered Bodies play in promoting professional excellence, career advancement, and improved business outcomes.

Goffar said: “ACCA welcomed the chance to explore how to fully capitalise on the power and influence of professional bodies, to support growth and delivery of the Industrial Strategy. ACCA has a powerful story to tell with 48% of ACCA’s UK students entering via a non-graduate route, demonstrating a large alternative pathway into a high-status profession.

“ACCA looks forward to carrying on this imitative demonstrating the value of Chartered Bodies should be seen as a key pillar to efforts to transform the UK’s workforce into a high-skill powerhouse. We are ready to work with the government to deliver on its growth mission while also improving social mobility and ensuring that increased prosperity reaches every corner of the country.”

Chartered Bodies engage employers, foster professional networks, advocate for ethical conduct and encourage continuous professional development and are key to developing a workforce that is skilled, principled, and prepared for both current and future economic challenges.

Evidence supports the value of Chartered status, with statistics showing a salary increase ranging from £8,000 ($9,500) to £15,000 per year, notably for professionals in the early or middle stages of their careers who move from non-chartered to Chartered roles.

Recently, ACCA endorsed the UK government’s initiative to establish a voluntary registration system for sustainability assurance service providers.

A proposal currently under review suggests that the forthcoming Audit, Reporting and Governance Authority (ARGA) could be responsible for setting up this voluntary registration framework.
