As part of this renewed emphasis, ACCA Asia Pacific director Pulkit Abrol visited Jakarta and addressed the IAI Conference.

He outlined the role of reliable sustainability reporting in opening up future possibilities for companies and the wider economy.

Abrol said: “By combining IAI’s leadership in Indonesia with ACCA’s global reach, we can help equip a new generation of professionals with the digital, sustainability and strategic skills they need to drive inclusive growth.”

The conference highlighted how qualifications equip professionals with technical ability, sound judgement, and business insight, all considered essential in a digital and interconnected environment.

ACCA and IAI have stated their commitment to developing a profession that contributes to sustainability and inclusivity.

As members of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), both bodies are assessing options for closer member recognition and are seeking to further build on the current ACCA-IAI Strategic Pathway.

This pathway allows Chartered Accountant (CA) Indonesia holders to pursue ACCA membership through its qualification process.

The two organisations are also examining broader areas of mutual interest for future cooperation.

These include professional training and certification, workforce development, adoption of digital tools, research initiatives, sustainability practices in public finance management, and measures supporting international mobility for accountants.

At the regional level, collaboration between ACCA and IAI takes place through the ASEAN Federation of Accountants (AFA). IAI holds a permanent Secretariat role within AFA, which serves as Southeast Asia’s professional network for accountants.

Both institutions continue to support further ASEAN integration—advocating increased cooperation within the region, alignment with International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) frameworks, and use of ASEAN Mutual Recognition Agreement Framework on Accountancy Services.

IAI executive director Elly Zarni Husin commented: “We deeply appreciate ACCA’s recognition of IAI’s leadership as the acknowledged Professional Accountancy Organisation in Indonesia, affirming our joint commitment to elevating the competence and global competitiveness of our Chartered Accountant members.”
