The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) and the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) have signed a joint collaboration framework (JCF) to expand ties.
The agreement was formally executed by ICAB CEO Md. Quamruzzaman and ICMAB executive director Md. Mahbub-Ul-Alam.

Under the JCF, the two professional bodies will seek to deepen cooperation. The framework will allow the ICAB and ICMAB to coordinate across professional development, shared research and publishing initiatives, professional events, policy advocacy and international outreach.
A joint coordination committee featuring equal representation from both institutes will manage the rollout of the agreement and meet at least four times per year.
According to both bodies, the partnership seeks to raise professional standards, reinforce governance and assist national economic development.
ICAB president Sabbir Ahmed stated that the institutes must “raise a unified voice” to guide state policy and reinforce the profession.
ICMAB president Kausar Alam stated that both organisations will align on policy to serve as the unified voice of the country’s accounting profession.
Expanding cooperation with fellow professional accountancy organisations forms a central pillar of the ICAB’s strategic reform road map for 2025–30.
Earlier this year, the accountancy body held a meeting with Bangladesh Bank, the central bank of the country, to bolster financial reporting, elevate audit quality and tighten regulatory coordination to build a more transparent and resilient financial sector.
At the meeting, the ICAB and Bangladesh Bank discussed ways to strengthen financial reporting and audit quality to enhance confidence in the financial sector.
