The Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) has appointed three new members and confirmed the reappointment of one convenor to the Financial Reporting Review Panel (FRRP).
The Accounting and Financial Reporting Council (AFRC) has welcomed the move.

According to a statement, the new panel members are James Liu Hong‑yuen, Benson Wong Wai‑bong and George Yang Yong.
Ernest Lee Chun‑ho has been reappointed as convenor.
All four appointments will apply for a three-year term from 16 July 2026 to 15 July 2029.
Members of the FRRP review possible breaches of accounting standards in the financial statements of listed companies and make recommendations to the AFRC.
AFRC CEO Janey Lai said: “The FRRP provides valuable professional input that enables the AFRC to identify and address possible non-compliance with accounting requirements in listed entities’ financial reports.
“Its work enhances the effectiveness of our regulatory oversight, reinforces accountability in financial reporting, and supports investor protection and the wider public interest.”
The AFRC also confirmed that current members Carrie Lau Kar‑yee, Hung Ming Yi and Wang Xin will retire from the panel.
The council expressed “gratitude” to the outgoing members “for their valuable contributions to the FRRP”.
AFRC chairman David Sun said: “The AFRC expresses its sincere appreciation to the retiring members for their dedicated service and valuable contributions, and extends a warm welcome to the newly appointed and reappointed members.
