PCAOB chairman Demetrios Logothetis said: “OGC’s work underpins the PCAOB’s ability to execute its mission to protect investors. We are grateful that George is joining us to fill this critical leadership role.”

Kostolampros has more than 25 years of experience in advising organisations and senior executives on legal, regulatory, governance, compliance and risk management issues.

Before joining the PCAOB, he was a partner at Venable. There, he advised listed companies, boards, audit committees, financial institutions and senior executives on governance, compliance and regulatory matters.

He also represented clients in internal investigations, government enforcement cases, regulatory proceedings and complex litigation.

Earlier in his career, and before returning to private practice, Kostolampros served as senior counsel in the Division of Enforcement at the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

Kostolampros said: “I am honoured to join the PCAOB, and I look forward to working with the talented OGC staff to advance the PCAOB’s priorities and mission.”

Matt Goldin, who became acting general counsel in January 2026, will return to his previous position as deputy general counsel.

In that capacity, he will continue advising the board on PCAOB programmes and operations, while also supporting the management of the OGC.

Logothetis added: “Matt is a valued member of the OGC team, and we thank him for his distinguished service as acting general counsel.”

The PCAOB recently introduced a Firm Consultation Process to be administered by its Office of the Chief Auditor (OCA). The process gives registered public accounting practices a direct channel to PCAOB staff.

Businesses can submit queries to the OCA and receive “informal staff views” on implementing new standards and applying existing requirements.
