The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) in the US has nominated Katrina Salazar of Sacramento, California, for the position of vice-chair for the 2026–27 term.

Salazar is currently serving as a director-at-large at NASBA and chairs the organisation’s Legislative Support Committee for the 2025–26 period.

She has been involved with NASBA for 11 years, during which she has held roles including secretary and Pacific regional director on the NASBA Board of Directors.

Over the course of her service, Salazar has led several NASBA committees, previously chairing the Inclusion Committee, CPE Standards Working Group, CPE Committee, Relations with Member Boards Committee and Bylaws Committee.

From 2012 to 2024, she was a member of the California Board of Accountancy, where she held multiple leadership positions including secretary, treasurer, vice-president and two non-consecutive terms as board president.

Her involvement with the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) includes six years on the AICPA Board of Examiners (BOE), where she also served a two-year term as BOE chair.

She additionally chaired the AICPA’s State Board Committee in 2022–23, having been a member of that committee from 2018 to 2023.

Salazar also serves as chief financial officer of the California Correctional Peace Officers Association.

In February this year, NASBA appointed Tyler Nelson as its vice-president of public relations.
