The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) has appointed Tishan Subasinghe as its 28th president, succeeding Heshana Kuruppu.

Subasinghe has been a council member of CA Sri Lanka since 2013 and has more than 28 years of professional experience.

He most recently held the post of vice-president for the 2024–25 term.

CA Sri Lanka has also elected Anoji de Silva as vice-president.

De Silva, a fellow member of the institute, served on the council from 2020 to 2025. She is a senior partner at Ernst & Young Sri Lanka and Maldives, where she serves as professional practice director and International Standard on Quality Management leader.

Subasinghe is managing director of Moore Consulting and joint managing partner of Moore Aiyar. He previously led the audit and assurance division at BDO Partners.

He has undertaken overseas assignments with PwC in New York, Philadelphia and Botswana.

Subasinghe is a founder member of the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka and a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in the UK.

He is also an attorney-at-law and a life member of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka. He holds an MBA in finance from the University of Colombo and is a certified information systems auditor (CISA-USA).

In his inaugural address, Subasinghe said: “Chartered accountants will emerge as strategic business leaders, technology-driven professionals and ethical communicators.

“In fact, it is my belief that financial reporting per se will be merely one aspect of a much broader sustainability framework. Accountancy is not a dying profession but a fast-changing one.”

Subasinghe’s work includes involvement in national policy, regulatory oversight and standard-setting.

He is a board member of the Sri Lanka Accounting and Auditing Standards Board and an ex officio member of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka.

He has also served on the Presidential Commission on the Simplification of Laws and Regulations, and on the Committee for the Revival of Failed Licensed Finance Companies established by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

Within CA Sri Lanka, Subasinghe has chaired several key committees. He led the Examinations Committee’s shift to online exams in 2020, enabling students to continue their studies during the Covid-19 pandemic.

He is also a former vice-president of the Young Chartered Accountants Forum.
