AI agent platform Ravical’s latest research has revealed that 64% of businesses now consult ChatGPT prior to seeking advice from their accountants.
The finding is part of a survey involving 500 senior decision-makers from UK accountancy firms, which was conducted for Ravical’s 2025 report, ‘Accounting in the age of AI’.

The report suggested a change in how clients interact with accountancy services, increasingly turning to AI for initial guidance.
Results from the survey show that 54% of accountancy firms have had to amend guidance provided by ChatGPT, while an additional 20% are often called upon to address AI-provided advice.
Clients are utilising AI for general financial inquiries and for tasks such as financial planning and forecasting (59%), and bookkeeping along with data entry (54%).
Furthermore, 39% of clients are using AI to cross-check or contest the advice given by their accountants.

A 51% of firms have encountered clients questioning whether AI could one day replace their services.
Accountants are recognising the transformative impact of AI, with 46% of firms predicting a decline in the relevance of traditional skills.
Instead, abilities such as working with AI tools and data analysis are expected to become increasingly important, with 83% and 68% of firms respectively, acknowledging these as key future skills.
Additionally, 49% of firms anticipate AI to have a considerable effect on productivity, service quality, and career development in the coming five years.
