Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG) president Christian Sottie has started a two-year mandate as president of the Association of Accountancy Bodies in West Africa (ABWA).

In a speech, Sottie said his presidency would focus on further strengthening professional accountancy organisations in the region through the training of more accountants and support weaker institutes to improve their standards.

ABWA was established in 1982 and counts 15 members. It offers an accounting technicians scheme across West Africa.
