News briefs: CIMA appointment

Tony Manwaring has been appointed executive director of external affairs at the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), effective January 2015.

Manwaring's role is a newly created senior management position, with responsibility across CIMA's advocacy, corporate communications and media strategies.

In particular, Manwaring will be tasked with enhancing the joint qualification launched with the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants: the Chartered Global Management Accountant designation (aka CGMA).

Manwaring has been for seven years the chief executive of Tomorrow's Company, a think tank focused on business issues.
