IFRS Interpretations Committee appoints chair

Wayne Upton has been appointed as IFRS Interpretations Committee chair.

The trustees of the IFRS Foundation, the oversight body of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB), have named Upton as the successor to Robert Garnett.

Upton will take up his new role immediately and he will chair his first meeting in September. He will also continue to work as IASB director of international activities.

“We believe that linking Wayne’s responsibilities on interpretation and international implementation will help the cause of consistent application,” IFRS Foundation Trustees vice-chairs and acting co-chairs Tsuguoki (Aki) Fujinuma and Robert Glauber said.
