Head of China standard setting appointed to IASB board

The IFRS Foundation trustees have appointed Jianqiao Lu, director of the accounting regulatory department at China’s Ministry of Finance (MoF) as a member to the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) board, effective from August 2017 for an initial term of five years.

In his position at the Chinese MoF, Lu is in charge of Chinese accounting standard-setting and he was credited by the IFRS Foundation to have played a leading role in China’s work to align its national standards with IFRS.

Previously, Lu was in charge of China’s governmental accounting standards reform working group and also managed projects to develop accounting standards for non-governmental not-for-profit organisations.

Stephen Cooper and Wei-Guo Zhang who both served the maximum term as board members will step down when their terms respectively end at the end of July and June this year.
