COSO appoint chairman

The Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO) has appointed Robert Hirth a three-year term as its chairman, replacing David Landsittel.

Hirth is a founding managing director of global consulting firm, Protiviti. Among other roles, he has led the firm's operations in the western US region since its establishment.

COSO is a joint initiative of five private sector organisations and is dedicated to providing thought leadership through the development of frameworks and guidance on enterprise risk management internal control and fraud deterrence.

COSO's sponsoring organisations are the American Accounting Association (AAA), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Financial Executives International (FEI), The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA).
