CIPFA appoints CEO

Rob Whiteman has been appointed as the new chief executive of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA).
Whiteman is currently director of operational systems transformation at the Home Office, after joining the central government as chief executive of the UK Border Agency in September 2011.

Whiteman will take over from current CIPFA chief executive Steve Freer.

Commenting on Whiteman's appointment, CIPFA president, Sir Tony Redmond, said: "He will be joining us at a pivotal time for the organisation - as our members wrestle with the impact of austerity on UK public services and we continue our work around the world with a range of partners to improve global public financial management."
