CAQ highlights CPAs role in addressing cybersecurity risks

The centre for audit quality (CAQ) has released a new white paper highlighting the role of the audit profession in tackling cybersecurity risks.

Besides the core values and skills of CPAs which the CAQ said was essential in addressing the challenges of cybersecurity, the white paper looks at the cybersecurity reporting framework from the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA).

The framework is articulated around the disclosure of three pieces of information: a description of the organisation’s cybersecurity risk management program, the management’s opinion on the effectiveness of the program, and  the CPA’s opinion.

The CAQ white paper can be accessed here: The CPA's Role in Addressing Cybersecurity Risk
