Ball appointed CIPFA chairman

Ian Ball, the former International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) chief executive, has been appointed chairman of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) effective 1 October.

Ball will work with the CIPFA's council and management team with a particular focus on the institute's international growth and development.

Ball spent ten years at IFAC and received the 2013 life achievement IAB award earlier this year.

"The Institute is uniquely placed to help governments develop stronger financial management practices. But there is still a huge challenge to get all governments to take their financial responsibilities seriously," Ball said.
